Father's Day Blog Hop

Today as part of the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! Team we are presenting some fabulous Father's Day ideas to inspire you. We also have our brand new 2015 Holiday Catalogue available from 1 September, with some amazing Christmas inspiration for you. Be sure to request a catalogue today!

You may have come here from Kathryn Ruddick's blog, or you might be starting fresh with me - just make sure you visit all the fantastic blogs on this "hop" to see all the amazing ideas.

My card uses the Layered Letters Alphabet stamp set, which I think is so versatile and because it comes in photopolymer, it is super easy to line up and see where you are stamping. That's especially good when you have words with more than one of the same letter (like DAD) as you can add each letter individually and see where it's going. I have also used a new technique (well to me anyway) with the embossing folders that lets you emboss only around the edges - how great does it look!!

I have used the Crazy About You stamp set to create a greeting for the inside of my card, and some washi tape from the Cherry On Top set. I hope my Dad likes his card!!

The next blog on the hop is Tina Gillespie, so be sure to hop over and check it out. You can find a full list of all the blogs at the bottom of this post, just in case you get lost.

Convention 2014 Continued . . . Day One . . .

Day One of Convention started with the crazy swapping in the Foyer of the Melbourne Convention Centre. There were over 700 women running around very excitedly, catching up with friends they hadn't seen since last year and meeting new people. Some people were also collecting their bags, but I was lucky enough to get mine the night before when I attended a class on the Wednesday night before Convention officially started.

The bags were a little smaller this year, but a fabulous red (Real Red) with a blue lining. The gorgeous bag tag on the right hand side was one of my roomie swaps, made by the very talented Judy May and my room mate for the week at the Best Western Riverside Apartments. It's actually a scissor charm, but since I had no scissors with me I hung it from my bag for the week. We also got a pen with a stylus on the tip for using with a tablet or smart phone. Inside the bag was our program, lanyard, name tag and any pins and awards for sales and recruiting. I didn't qualify for anything this year, but have set some goals for next year - more about that later.
The General Session for Day One was opened by one of the lead singers from the Musical "Wicked", singing "Popular" and she was fantastic. Shelli Gardner - the Founder of Stampin' Up! then welcomed everyone to Convention and got us all inspired for the days ahead.

Our first Inspire. Create. Share. Workshop was very exciting as we received our second free stamp set of the day and made two beautiful cards with it. The "Share" part of the session was to send one of the cards to someone who had made it possible for us to come to Convention, so one of the very special people in my life will be receiving this soon.

This card is made with one of the stamp sets from the 2014-2015 Annual Catalogue which starts on the 1st July 2014. It also shows several of the new IN COLOURS - Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow and Tangelo Twist (the fifth colour is not pictured and is Lost Lagoon). The two cards are slightly different in design - see if you can pick the differences!

Birthday Time

My Sister had her birthday last week and she collects Royal Doulton Lady Statues, so I wanted to make a card that was a little similar to her collection - this is what I came up with . . .

I used the ink pad and rubbed it on one side of the embossing folder before I ran it through the Big Shot which is how I got the pattern on the Very Vanilla Cardstock - easy but effective. A few bits of bling finished off the card.

 InkElegant Eggplant
AccessoriesBasic Rhinestones, Dimensionals
Tools    Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder (retired), Dress Up Framelits, Big Shot, Modern Label Punch, Word Window Punch

The second card was for the daughter of a friend on her 7th Birthday. I have to confess that my daughter Jessica made the card for us to give her, so credit goes to her, but she said it was ok to post it here . . .

Wildflower Meadow Playtime

A get-together with a group of friends who are also Stampin' Up Demonstrators gave me a chance to play with some of the new catalogue products that I haven't ordered (yet).  I was lucky enough to try some new colour combos with the Wildflower Meadow Stamp and Embossing Folder.

This first card uses one of my favourite new In Colours for 2013-2015, Strawberry Slush, and was very quick and easy to make. . .

Project Recipe
StampsWildflower Meadow, Mixed Medley (hostess, retired)
Card stock & Papers    Whisper White, Strawberry Slush
 InkStrawberry Slush
AccessoriesDimensionals
Tools    Fancy Flower Punch, 11/4 Scallop Circle Punch, 3/4 Circle Punch, Wildflower Meadow Embossing Folder, Big Shot

The second card uses another In Colour, Crisp Cantaloupe - don't you just want to eat these colours - I love the names, and also allowed me to have a play with the Simply Pressed Clay. I made the flower in white and then mixed re-inker with Crystal Effects and painted it on the top. The card was another quick and easy one, but the clay does take a day or so to dry. I find it easier to have lots of flowers and buttons made in advance and then I can just colour them as needed. You can also colour them with the ink pads or markers, so they are very versatile.

Card stock & Papers    Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe
InkCrisp Cantaloupe - Pad and Re-Inker
AccessoriesPearls, Simply Pressed Clay Flower, Whisper White Satin Ribbon
Tools    Glue Gun, Crystal Effects, Wildflower Meadows Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Scissors

The final card did take a little longer to make as I used the Markers to colour the stamp, however I think the effort was worth it. I have seen it coloured in various combinations and you get quite a different look depending on the colours you use.

Project Recipe
StampsWildflower Meadow, Pretty Petites (Retired)
Card stock & Papers    Whisper White, Marina Mist
InkMarina Mist, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi and Blushing Bride Markers
AccessoriesBasic Rhinestones, Dimensionals
Tools    Wildflower Meadows Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Petite Curly Label Punch

I hope you have enjoyed looking at these cards and please contact me if you would like to order any of the products featured in them, or to book into a class to make some of your own creations.
Thanks and Happy Stampin'
